Whether you realize it or not, what you're reading has been typed from the only
Ubuntu boot I've ever used. I downloaded it on yesterday, and as I don't really have much extra room (meaning none at all) on my hard drive, I've only been using it off of the CD. It's very nice of them to let you run it without actually having to install anything, by the way. So far it's been pretty slick. Now, since
Scott is the entire reason I'm writing anything today, I'm going to use one of his little blogging tricklets.
Interesting points about Ubuntu
- Very fast, considering how much is run from a CD
- So far, no wireless internet. Kind of annoyed over the lack of help it gives you there
- Comes with Firefox and OpenOffice installed, although it's not the Firefox 3 beta, which would be even better.
- Also has GIMP installed. Apparently when you go a little open source, you go all the way.
I'm not 100% decided at the moment, but if I can clear up a little hard drive space, I may switch to using Ubuntu on a semi-regular basis. As an interesting side note, my partner for my video game design class is such a hardcore Linux user that he made fun of me for using Ubuntu because it's still too Windows like. I thought I was doing good just going this far.... apparently not. He claims Fedora is the way to go, so maybe that'll be next week. Anyway, enough geeky talk. BEHOLD! LOLCATS!
